Vacheron Constantin, nella sua nuova boutique romana in mostra l’Heritage Private Collection
Un viaggio nell’evoluzione dell’arte orologiera, dell’eccellenza e della tradizione, firma della Manifattura
Una straordinaria esposizione che racconta il patrimonio della Maison e celebra l’apertura della sua nuova boutique di via Condotti. Nel cuore dello shopping capitolino – dal 29 gennaio al 1° marzo 2025 – Vacheron Constantin omaggia 270 anni di maestria orologiera attraverso creazioni, datate tra il XVIII secolo e i giorni nostri, provenienti dal proprio archivio: oltre 1.600 esemplari iconici per un viaggio nell’eccellenza.
Si comincia con un prezioso orologio da tasca del 1844 caratterizzato da un’incisione che raffigura il Colosseo (testimonianza del legame che unisce la Maison alla città eterna). Si prosegue con l’orologio da tasca del 1897 raffigurante lo stemma del re Umberto I d’Italia, documentazione che gli stemmi incisi sulle creazioni della Maison non solo rappresentavano un segno distintivo, ma racchiudevano anche un significato atemporale, capace di narrare storie e valori attraverso i secoli. C’è poi un orologio da polso da donna del 1935, un modello dalla costruzione originale (lo sviluppo degli orologi da polso fu possibile grazie all’opera di miniaturizzazione dei movimenti svolta dagli orologiai, come nel caso del calibro RA 8 linee) realizzato dalla creatività e dall’ingegno dei progettisti di Vacheron Constantin durante il periodo Art Déco. Attira l’attenzione l’orologio da polso “Cioccolatone” del 1954, così chiamato per la forma quadrata della cassa. Nel 2003 è stato riproposto con il nome di Toledo 1952, in una serie esclusiva nell’ambito della collezione «Les Historiques». Fino al 1969, fu disponibile in sei versioni, tra cui le referenze 4737, 6440 (animato dal calibro 1071, quarta generazione di movimenti automatici di Vacheron Constantin e rifinito con indici sfaccettati applicati su quadrante argentato) e 6440Q (a carica automatica), il modello 4821 con piccoli secondi (a carica manuale) e il modello 4822 con secondi al centro (a carica manuale). Alcune varianti del “Cioccolatone” indicavano il giorno, la data, il mese e le fasi lunari, come la referenza 4764, prodotto in serie limitata fino al 1957.
Il Toledo del 2013, ispirato all’emblematico “Cioccolatone” e prodotto tra il 1950 e 1960 con referenza 47300, è una raffinata riedizione del modello 4764, dotata di calendario completo.
È disponibile in oro giallo e bianco, e in una rara versione in platino.
Il Toledo 1952 è dotato del calibro 1225 (11 linee ½), un meccanismo complicato la cui eleganza anima il quadrante con originalità attraverso un calendario che indica il giorno della settimana, il mese e le fasi lunari.

A journey through the evolution of the Manufacture’s signature watchmaking art, excellence and tradition
An extraordinary exhibition chronicling the Maison’s heritage and celebrating the opening of its new boutique on Via Condotti. In the heart of Capitoline shopping – from January 29 to March 1, 2025 – Vacheron Constantin pays homage to 270 years of watchmaking mastery through creations, dating from the 18th century to the present day, from its archives: more than 1,600 iconic pieces for a journey into excellence. It begins with
a precious pocket watch from 1844 featuring an engraving depicting the Colosseum (testimony to the bond that unites the Maison to the eternal city). It continues with the 1897 pocket watch depicting the coat of arms of King Umberto I of Italy, documentation that the coats of arms engraved on the Maison’s creations not only represented a distinctive sign, but also encapsulated a timeless meaning, capable of narrating stories and values through the centuries.
Then there is a women’s wristwatch from 1935, a model with an original construction (the development of wristwatches was possible thanks to the work of miniaturization of movements carried out by watchmakers, as in the case of the RA 8-line caliber) made by the creativity and ingenuity of Vacheron Constantin’s designers during the Art Deco period. Attracting attention is the 1954 “Chocolatone” wristwatch, so named because of the square shape of the case. In 2003 it was reissued as the Toledo 1952, in an exclusive series as part of the “Les Historiques” collection. Until 1969, it was available in six versions, including references 4737, 6440 (powered by caliber 1071, the fourth generation of movements
automatic from Vacheron Constantin and finished with faceted applied hour markers on a silver dial) and 6440Q (self-winding), model 4821 with small seconds (manual winding) and model 4822 with center seconds (manual winding). Some variants of the “Chocolatone” indicated the day, date, month and moon phases, such as reference 4764, produced in limited series until 1957.
The 2013 Toledo, inspired by the emblematic “Chocolatone” and produced between 1950 and 1960 with reference 47300, is a refined re-edition of model 4764, equipped with a complete calendar, part of the prestigious “Les Historiques” collection.
It is available in yellow and white gold, and in a rare platinum version.
