Il 14 maggio – offerte online aperte dal 2 al 16 maggio su Sothebys.com – Sotheby’s presenterà all’asta “Iconic Jewels: Her Sense Of Style”, una straordinaria collezione di oltre 250 gioielli di altissima qualità, stile ed eleganza, assemblati da un’appassionata collezionista europea nell’arco di cinquant’anni acquisendo gli esempi più notevoli di gioielli di tutti i decenni più importanti e delle tendenze del design del ventesimo secolo: Art Nouveau, Belle Epoque, Art Déco e Modernismo, una spettacolare selezione che è un omaggio al design della gioielleria del XX secolo e una vetrina enciclopedica dei suoi pezzi più iconici e delle tendenze più influenti, firmati dalle nomi prestigiosi tra cui Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, Boucheron, Chaumet, David Webb, Mauboussin, Marina B, Sterlé e Mellerio dits Meller.

Un posto speciale lo occupa René Boivin, una delle case di gioielleria più fantasiose al mondo, famosa per la lavorazione complessa e i colori vivaci – la collezione accoglie la più ampia selezione di opere del gioielliere francese nel mondo con quasi trenta lotti con pezzi risalenti agli anni ’30 e ’90, tra cui una spilla e un set di orecchini Bouquet de Violettes (stima 25.000 – 35.000 CHF), una collana Algae (stima 20.000 – 30.000 CHF), una spilla Noeud de Passementerie (stima 15.000 – 20.000 CHF) e un ciondolo a forma di flacone con sigillo, (stima 30.000 – 50.000 CHF).

Tra i top lot un eccezionale paio di orecchini, con due diamanti Fancy Intense Yellow di poco meno di 10 carati ciascuno firmati Bulgari. Precedentemente appartenuti alla leggendaria socialite americana la Baronessa di Portanova (stima 400.000 – 600.000 CHF); un raro orologio-bracciale Serpenti “Theodorus”, accompagnato da un disegno originale dell’archivio Bulgari datato 1968 (stima 200.000 – 400.000 CHF); diversi pezzi iconici di Cartier tra cui un braccialetto Panthère del 1969 (stima 250.000 – 350.000 CHF) e uno braccialetto Tutti Frutti (stima 200.000 – 400.000 CHF); un set con girocollo e orecchini di Marina B, incastonati con ametista intagliata, ottimo esempio dello stile degli anni ’80 (stima 30.000 – 50.000 CHF); un set Passe-Partout trasformabile degli anni ’40 di Van Cleef & Arpels con collana, tre spille e un paio di orecchini a clip (stima 80.000 – 120.000 CHF).

In May, Sotheby’s will present at auction “Iconic Jewels: Her Sense Of Style,” an extraordinary collection of more than 250 pieces of jewelry of the highest quality, style and elegance, assembled by a passionate European collector over fifty years by acquiring the most remarkable examples of jewelry from all the major decades and design trends of the 20th century: Art Nouveau, Belle Epoque, Art Deco, and Modernism, a spectacular selection that is a tribute to 20th-century jewelry design and an encyclopedic showcase of its most iconic pieces and most influential trends, signed by prestigious names including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, Boucheron, Chaumet, David Webb, Mauboussin, Marina B, Sterlé, and Mellerio dits Meller.

One of the most important private collections of signed jewelry ever auctioned with an estimated 4.7 to 7.3 million Swiss francs ($5.4 million to $8.3 million).

A special place is held by René Boivin, one of the world’s most imaginative jewelry houses, famous for intricate workmanship and vibrant colors-the collection houses the largest selection of the French jeweler’s work in the world with nearly thirty lots with pieces dating from the 1930s to the 1990s, including a Bouquet de Violettes brooch and earring set (estimate 25. 000 – 35,000 CHF), an Algae necklace (estimate 20,000 – 30,000 CHF), a Noeud de Passementerie brooch (estimate 15,000 – 20,000 CHF) and a bottle-shaped pendant with seal, (estimate 30,000 – 50,000 CHF).

Among the top lots is an exceptional pair of earrings, with two Fancy Intense Yellow diamonds of just under 10 carats each signed Bulgari. Formerly belonging to the legendary American socialite the Baroness of Portanova (estimate 400,000 – 600,000 CHF); a rare Serpenti “Theodorus” watch-bracelet, accompanied by an original drawing from the Bulgari archives dated 1968 (estimate 200,000 – 400,000 CHF); several iconic Cartier pieces including a 1969 Panthère bracelet (estimate 250,000 – 350. 000 CHF) and a Tutti Frutti bracelet (estimate 200,000 – 400,000 CHF); a choker and earring set by Marina B, set with carved amethyst, an excellent example of the style of the 1980s (estimate 30,000 – 50,000 CHF); a 1940s transformable Passe-Partout set by Van Cleef & Arpels with necklace, three brooches and a pair of clip-on earrings (estimate 80,000 – 120,000 CHF).
