Rado Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition
È da quasi quarant’anni che Rado ha legato il suo nome all’affascinante mondo del tennis; era infatti il 1985 quando installò i suoi primi orologi angolari sui campi dello Swiss Open Gstaad. Da allora, è uno dei principali cronometristi di questo sport, tra i più appassionanti da seguire ed uno dei più “duri”. Cameron ha collaborato con il team Rado alla creazione del nuovo orologio Rado Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition: “…sono onorato di presentare il mio primo orologio in edizione limitata insieme a Rado. È stato eccitante collaborare al design ed il lancio del segnatempo durante la stagione dei tornei sull’erba nel Regno Unito è stato tempestivo: un tempismo perfetto.”
Il nuovo Rado Captain Cook propone una cassa in acciaio lucido di 42 millimetri di diametro con corona a vite e lunetta girevole in acciaio lucido con inserto in ceramica high-tech verde lucido con numeri ed indici incisi in Super-LumiNova® color bianco opaco. Il quadrante, protetto da cristallo zaffiro sagomato ed antiriflesso ambo i lati, è sfumato; la parte esterna verde vira fino a diventare bianca nella parte centrale del dial. A ore 12 è visibile, su fondo viola, la famosa ancora girevole di Rado.
Osservando l’orologio possiamo notare alcuni riferimenti al tennis come il rehaut verde con punti in Super-LumiNova® gialla alle ore 3, 6, 8 e 12 che richiamano il punteggio tipico del tennis “15/30/40/gioco” e la punta della lancetta centrale dei secondi che, al contrario di quelle di ore e minuti riempite con Super-LumiNova® bianca, è rivestita in Super-LumiNova® giallo, a richiamare il colore della pallina da tennis.
L’orologio, venduto in un astuccio in pelle verde con la firma di Cameron e il certificato di edizione limitata, è animato dal calibro R763, movimento meccanico a carica automatica con datario ed una riserva di carica di 80 ore. La presenza di una spirale realizzata con la lega NivachronTM, un materiale anti-magnetico avanzato, assicura prestazioni puntuali ed affidabili. Il fondello avvitato, in acciaio lucido con cristallo zaffiro colorato con la firma argentata di Cameron Norrie, riporta incisa la dicitura Limited Edition, one out of 823, in riferimento al numero degli esemplari della serie limitata, scelto per ricordare il compleanno dell’atleta, il 23 agosto.
Il Rado Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition, impermeabile fino a 300 metri/30 ATM, è assicurato al polso con un bracciale in acciaio lucido e spazzolato con fibbia in titanio a tripla piega con sistema EasyClic per uno sgancio facile e rapido. E’ possibile anche scegliere tra un cinturino in pelle nera con fibbia pieghevole estensibile in acciaio oppure un cinturino in tessuto NATO verde e bianco.

Cameron collaborated with the Rado team on the creation of the new Rado Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition watch: “…I am honoured to present my first limited edition watch with Rado. It was exciting to collaborate on the design and the launch of the timepiece during the UK grass tournament season was timely – perfect timing.” The new Rado Captain Cook features a 42-millimetre diameter polished steel case with screw-down crown and polished steel rotating bezel with a polished green high-tech ceramic insert with matte white Super-LumiNova® engraved numerals and indices. The dial, protected by shaped sapphire crystal that is anti-reflective on both sides, is shaded; the green outer part turns to white in the central part of the dial. At 12 o’clock is visible, on a purple background, Rado’s famous rotating anchor. Observing the watch, we can notice some references to tennis such as the green flange with yellow Super-LumiNova® dots at 3, 6, 8 and 12 o’clock recalling the typical tennis score “15/30/40/game” and the tip of the central seconds hand which, unlike the hour and minute hands filled with white Super-LumiNova®, is coated with yellow Super-LumiNova®, recalling the colour of the tennis ball.
The watch, sold in a green leather case with Cameron’s signature and limited edition certificate, is powered by the calibre R763, a self-winding mechanical movement with date display and 80-hour power reserve. The presence of a balance spring made of NivachronTM alloy, an advanced anti-magnetic material, ensures punctual and reliable performance. The screw-down caseback, in polished steel with a sapphire crystal tinted with Cameron Norrie’s silvered signature, is engraved with the words Limited Edition, one out of 823, in reference to the number of pieces in the limited series, chosen to commemorate the athlete’s birthday on 23 August. The Rado Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition, water-resistant to 300 metres/30 ATM, is secured to the wrist by a polished and brushed steel bracelet with a triple-fold titanium buckle with EasyClic system for quick and easy release. There is also a choice of a black leather strap with a steel extendible folding clasp or a green and white NATO fabric strap.
