L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts apre le porte a Arikawa: il collezionista presenta “Divine Jewels”

I capitoli della pubblicazione sono illustrati da venti pezzi iconici

La presentazione del libro “Divine Jewels: The Pursuit of Beauty“, disponibile dal 18 settembre, e una mostra celebrativa durante la quale per otto giorni, dal 19 al 26 settembre nel salone principale dell’Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau, saranno esposti una ventina di pezzi del ricco assortimento del giapponese Kazumi Arikawa.  Così L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, si prepara ad accogliere uno dei più importanti collezionisti di gioielli al mondo. Il libro è un viaggio nella visione ma anche nella vita di Arikawa, nel corso di quattro decenni. 

Per comprenderli meglio, è stato assegnato ai gioielli in esposizione il ruolo di testimonial e ambasciatori: in tutto il loro splendore “illustreranno” i diversi capitoli del libro, dai ritratti di sovrani incisi su cammei e intagli all’arte di catturare l’effimera bellezza della natura in diademi, collane e altri ornamenti preziosi. In questo modo, ogni gioiello in mostra – visitabile su prenotazione ed in piccoli gruppi accompagnati dagli storici de L’ÉCOLE – favorirà il dialogo tra il collezionista e l’approccio scientifico che la coautrice Diana Scarisbrick ha voluto dare alla pubblicazione, divisa in dieci capitoli. 

Questo importante evento conferma la tradizione e la vocazione de L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts. Fondata nel 2012 con il sostegno di Van Cleef & Arpels, ha l’obiettivo di condividere la cultura della gioielleria in Francia e nel mondo. Si tratta di una scuola iniziatica, aperta a tutti: si rivolge a principianti ma anche ad amatori, curiosi dell’universo gioielleria e collezionisti del calibro di Arikawa. Ha già accolto decine di migliaia di studenti, provenienti di età compresa tra 18 e 83 anni e offre corsi in storia della gioielleria, mondo delle pietre preziose e savoir-faire delle tecniche di creazione dei gioielli.

ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts opens its doors to Arikawa: collector presents “Divine Jewels”

The presentation of the book “Divine Jewels: The Pursuit of Beauty,” available from Sept. 18, and a celebratory exhibition during which for eight days, from Sept. 19 to 26 in the main hall of the Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau, some 20 pieces from the rich assortment of Japanese Kazumi Arikawa will be on display. Thus L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, is preparing to welcome one of the world’s leading jewelry collectors. The book is a journey into the vision but also into Arikawa’s life over the course of four decades.

To understand them better, the jewelry on display has been assigned the role of testimonials and ambassadors: in all their splendor they will “illustrate” the different chapters of the book, from portraits of sovereigns engraved on cameos and carvings to the art of capturing the ephemeral beauty of nature in tiaras, necklaces and other precious ornaments. In this way, each jewel in the exhibition-which can be visited by appointment and in small groups accompanied by L’ÉCOLE historians-will foster a dialogue between the collector and the scientific approach that coauthor Diana Scarisbrick wanted to give to the publication, which is divided into ten chapters.

This important event confirms the tradition and vocation of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts. Founded in 2012 with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels, it aims to share the culture of jewelry in France and around the world. It is an initiatory school, open to all: it caters to beginners but also to amateurs, those curious about the jewelry universe and collectors of Arikawa’s caliber. It has already welcomed tens of thousands of students, coming from ages 18 to 83, and offers courses in the history of jewelry, the world of precious stones, and savoir-faire of jewelry-making techniques.
