ITS Contest 2023: annunciati i finalisti
Esperti di moda, design e talent scout hanno selezionato i finalisti dell’edizione 2023 di ITS Contest, dopo aver analizzato oltre 750 proposte creative ricevute da 65 paesi. “Siamo davanti a un cambio generazionale dell’immagine, dei punti di riferimento. Una nuova generazione di designer di moda sta prendendo piede e i giovani talenti se ne stanno accorgendo, tracciando percorsi diversi – spiega Barbara Franchin, che ha fondato il contest internazionale nel 2002 – Adesso la moda sta vivendo un momento di grande confusione e riassestamento: è in corso una ridefinizione del ruolo del direttore creativo. Il designer del futuro sarà una figura che si allontana dal processo creativo, cedendo il passo a fattori economici”.
Il concept di questa edizione è Born To Create, una celebrazione della creatività innata dell’essere umano che ITS Contest ricerca e tutela da oltre vent’anni. Ogni finalista di ITS Contest 2023 si aggiudica subito il nuovo ITS Residency Award: Trieste accoglierà per una residenza creativa e chi è finalista collaborerà alla realizzazione di un progetto collettivo nell’ambito di ITS Arcademy – Museum of Art in Fashion, il primo museo della moda contemporanea in Italia che ospita più di 15.000 progetti raccolti negli oltre 20 anni di ITS Contest. Il museo dedicherà una mostra ai progetti di questa edizione. “La qualità dei progetti di ITS Contest è sempre sopra la media, con tanta creatività e libertà di espressione”, afferma Sara Sozzani Maino, Creative Director della Fondazione Sozzani. “Quest’anno i progetti erano incredibili, un mix di concretezza ed escapismo. Il futuro inizia qui”, aggiunge Orsola de Castro, co-fondatrice di Fashion Revolution e autrice.
Tutti i finalisti concorreranno inoltre a una serie di premi in denaro e opportunità pensate per sostenere la loro crescita professionale, assegnati durante l’evento finale che si terrà il 22 marzo 2024. Assisteranno inoltre, la sera seguente, all’inaugurazione della seconda mostra di ITS Arcademy-Museum of Art in Fashion, a cura di Olivier Saillard e Emanuele Coccia.
ITS Contest 2023 celebra Nova Gorica – Gorizia Capitale europea della cultura 2025 con un premio speciale. Nel corso dell’evento finale del Contest, la fondatrice Barbara Franchin e il filosofo Emanuele Coccia assegneranno il GO! 2025 Borderless Award powered by Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia al finalista dell’area Fashion che meglio avrà saputo interpretare l’assenza e il superamento dei confini culturali, fisici, mentali o geografici attraverso un abito e il suo racconto. Il progetto vincitore riceverà un premio di 10mila euro e sarà ospitato in una mostra dedicata negli spazi di ITS Arcademy.

Sono due, invece, i finalisti categoria Accessori: Eun Ji Oh-Belgio e Tal Maslavi-Israele. Due finalisti Gioielli: Kexuan Liu – Cina e Richard Farbey – Regno Unito. Sei finalisti Artwork selezione Swatch Art Peace Hotel: Chelsea Jean Lamm – Germania; Daniel Bosco – Canada; Ivan Delogu – Italia; Lilian Navarro – Francia; Shanon Poupard – Francia; Silvia Acien Parrilla – Spagna. Tre finalisti selezione Lotto Sport: Clementine Baldo-Francia; Ivan Delogu – Italia; Tomohiro Shibuki-Giappone.

ITS Contest 2023: finalists announced
Fashion, design and talent scouts have selected the finalists for the 2023 edition of ITS Contest, after analysing more than 750 creative proposals received from 65 countries. “We are facing a generational change of image, of reference points. A new generation of fashion designers is gaining a foothold and young talents are realising this, tracing different paths,’ explains Barbara Franchin, who founded the international contest in 2002. ‘Now fashion is experiencing a moment of great confusion and readjustment: the role of the creative director is being redefined. The designer of the future will be a figure who moves away from the creative process, giving way to economic factors’.
The concept of this edition is Born To Create, a celebration of the innate creativity of the human being that ITS Contest has been researching and protecting for over twenty years. Each finalist of ITS Contest 2023 will immediately be awarded the new ITS Residency Award: Trieste will host a creative residency and those who are finalists will collaborate in the realisation of a collective project within ITS Arcademy – Museum of Art in Fashion, the first museum of contemporary fashion in Italy that hosts more than 15,000 projects collected in over 20 years of ITS Contest. The museum will dedicate an exhibition to this edition’s projects.
“The quality of the ITS Contest projects is always above average, with lots of creativity and freedom of expression,” says Sara Sozzani Maino, Creative Director of the Sozzani Foundation. “This year the projects were incredible, a mix of concreteness and escapism. The future starts here,’ adds Orsola de Castro, co-founder of Fashion Revolution and author.
All finalists will also compete for a series of cash prizes and opportunities designed to support their professional growth, awarded during the final event on 22 March 2024. They will also attend, the following evening, the opening of the second ITS Arcademy-Museum of Art in Fashion exhibition, curated by Olivier Saillard and Emanuele Coccia.
