Dagli archivi della Babs Art Gallery gioielli di artisti realizzati a partire dalla metà del secolo scorso

Gli archivi della Babs Art Gallery Milano sono custodi di un patrimonio inestimabile che si offrirà allo sguardo dei visitatori con la mostra From Our Archive. Fino al 20 settembre una selezione di gioielli pezzi unici o numerati in serie limitata, realizzati a partire dal 1950 e firmati da artisti di fama internazionale (tra loro Arnaldo e Giò Pomodoro, sua è la collana Sfere meccaniche del 1970, in oro puro, oro rosso e oro bianco che rimodula in scala le ricerche plastiche dell’artista, illustrandone anche le finissime abilità orafe e incisorie; Niki de Saint Phalle; Jean Cocteau; Salvator Dalì; Pietro Consagra; Fausto Melotti che con la collana in oro rosa Ruote, del 1984, esprime capacità di sintesi e maestria nel dare vita a composizioni senza peso; Giorgio Facchini sceglie invece oro bianco e smeraldi per realizzare nel 1961 una collana preziosa e sofisticata, fatta di complessi incastri geometrici…).

Cifre stilistiche diverse che tratteggiano la storia dell’arte dal Novecento ai giorni nostri, un unicum in Italia e in Europa che inquadra il gioiello come nuova via espressiva e sperimentale di questi artisti.
A sottolineare il contesto e il clima culturale nel quale si è sviluppato questo genere, alle pareti si può ammirare una serie fotografica in bianco e nero di Ugo Mulas del 1969 che immortala con stile pulito e minimalista i gioielli di Pietro Consagra, Lucio Fontana, Man Ray e Edival Ramosa, Lidia Silvestri e molti ancora.

In mostra anche due opere di Alex Pinna caratterizzate dai suoi omini dalle forme allungate – l’anello How deep is your love? (2018) in oro e legno ebano e la collana Last night a DJ saved my life (2018) in argento; due collane di Chiara Dynys, Look at you in argento e smalti e A stone in a cage, gabbia in bronzo e argento intorno a una luminosa pietra rossa; di Piero Gilardi una collana gioiello che mescola il poliuretano all’argento; il bracciale Città di Ugo Nespolo in argento e smalti, un paesaggio urbano che sintetizza l’allegria delle sue sculture più grandi; di Tania Pistone la coppia di orecchini Rongorongo, (2022), ovvero, in oro e smalto la sua ricerca sugli alfabeti indecifrabili.

“FROM OUR ARCHIVE”

BDrom the archives of Babs Art Gallery jewelry by artists made since the middle of the last century.

The archives of Babs Art Gallery Milan are custodians of a priceless heritage that will be offered to the gaze of visitors with the exhibition From Our Archive. Until Sept. 20, a selection of jewelry pieces that are unique or numbered in limited series, made from 1950 onward and signed by internationally renowned artists (among them Arnaldo and Giò Pomodoro; his is the 1970 Mechanical Spheres necklace, in pure gold, red gold and white gold, which reshapes the artist’s plastic research to scale, also illustrating his fine goldsmithing and engraving skills; Niki de Saint Phalle; Jean Cocteau; Salvator Dalì; Pietro Consagra; Fausto Melotti who, with his 1984 pink gold Ruote necklace, expresses synthesis skills and mastery in giving life to weightless compositions; Giorgio Facchini, on the other hand, chooses white gold and emeralds to create a precious and sophisticated necklace in 1961, made of complex geometric joints… ). Different stylistic figures that sketch the history of art from the 20th century to the present day, a unicum in Italy and Europe that frames jewelry as a new expressive and experimental path for these artists.

To more powerfully restore the context and cultural climate in which this genre developed, a black-and-white photographic series by Ugo Mulas from 1969 can be seen on the walls, immortalizing in a clean, minimalist style the jewelry of Pietro Consagra, Lucio Fontana, Man Ray and Edival Ramosa, Lidia Silvestri and many more.

Also on display are two works featuring his elongated little men – the ring How deep is your love? (2018) in gold and ebony wood and the necklace Last night a DJ saved my life (2018) in silver by Alex Pinna; two necklaces by Chiara Dynys, Look at you in silver and enamel and A stone in a cage, a bronze and silver cage that protects a luminous red stone; by Piero Gilardi a Gioiello necklace that mixes polyurethane with silver; Ugo Nespolo’s City bracelet in silver and enamel, an urban landscape that synthesizes the cheerfulness of his larger sculptures; by Tania Pistone the pair of earrings Rongorongo, (2022), or, in gold and enamel her research on indecipherable alphabets.
