Louis Vuitton, in occasione di Art Basel Paris un evento celebra la collaborazione con Frank Gehry
Una mostra dedicata al BALCON D’HONNEUR del GRAND PALAIS
Il suo rapporto con l’arte (iniziato un secolo fa con Gaston-Louis, nipote del fondatore, avvalendosi della partecipazione di noti artisti) non si è mai spezzato. Oggi porta la firma del celebre architetto e designer Frank Gehry – collaborazione di lunga data che vede firmato anche il progetto della Fondation Louis Vuitton. In occasione della edizione 2024 di Art Basel Paris (la fiera d’arte contemporanea parigina di cui Vuitton è associate partner) ha reinterpretato con audacia l’iconica borsa Capucines seguendo quattro temi – Architettura e forma, Esplorazione dei materiali, Animali e Twisted Box: la Capucines Mini Blossom e Mini Puzzle, le Capucines MM Concrete Pockets, BB Shimmer Haze e BB Analog che evocano alcuni edifici noti di Gehry (il Guggenheim Museum di Bilbao, la Walt disney Concrete Hall di Los Angeles, il Museum of Pop Culture di Seattle e l’IAC Building di New York.
Di Frank Gehry è anche l’ideazione dello scenario della exhibiton al Grand Palais, per il quale ha rivisitato elementi chiave della collaborazione con la Maison: oggetti, disegni e modelli che ha realizzato in circa vent’anni. Spicca un imponente pesce bianco sospeso dalla forma curvilinea, tratto distintivo delle strutture di Gehry.

On the occasion of Art Basel Paris, an event celebrating the collaboration with Frank Gehry
Its relationship with art (which began a century ago with Gaston-Louis, the founder’s grandson, making use of the participation of well-known artists) has never been broken. Today it bears the signature of renowned architect, artist, and designer Frank Gehry-a long-standing collaboration that also signed the design of the Fondation Louis Vuitton. For the 2024 edition of Art Basel Paris (the Parisian contemporary art fair of which Vuitton is an associate partner) he boldly reinterpreted the iconic Capucines bag following four themes-Architecture and Form, Exploration of Materials, Animals, and Twisted Box: Capucines Mini Blossom and Mini Puzzle, Capucines MM Concrete Pockets, BB Shimmer Haze and BB Analog that evoke some of Gehry’s well-known buildings (the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Walt disney Concrete Hall in Los Angeles, the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle and the IAC Building in New York.
Also by Frank Gehry is the conception of the exhibiton’s backdrop at the Grand Palais, for which he revisited key elements of his collaboration with Louis Vuitton and presented objects, drawings, and models he made during some 20 years of collaboration. Prominent is a towering white fish suspended in a curvilinear shape, a hallmark of Gehry’s structures.
